Local and global properties of mixtures in one-dimensional systems. II. Exact results for the Kirkwood-Buff integrals.
The Kirkwood-Buff integrals for two-component mixtures in one-dimensional systems are calculated directly. The results are applied to square-well particles and found to agree with those obtained by the inversion of the Kirkwood-Buff theory of solutions.
متن کاملFracture Simulations via Large-Scale Nonequilibrium Molecular Dynamics
We describe the historical development of large-scale nonequilibrium molecular-dynamics (NEMD) computer simulations of fracture at Los Alamos. We have found that dynamic crack propagation leads to energy buildup that seeds instabilities, such as dislocation emission and branching. Recent three-dimensional simulations have shed light on ductile fracture mechanisms, including sequences of disloca...
متن کاملFinite size scaling for the core of large random hypergraphs
The (two) core of an hyper-graph is the maximal collection of hyper-edges within which no vertex appears only once. It is of importance in tasks such as efficiently solving a large linear system over GF[2], or iterative decoding of low-density parity-check codes used over the binary erasure channel. Similar structures emerge in a variety of NP-hard combinatorial optimization and decision proble...
متن کاملFinite Size Scaling
We study the Bose-Einstein condensation phase transition in a weakly interacting gas through a perturbative analysis of finite systems. In both the grand canonical and the canonical ensembles, perturbation theory suffers from infrared divergences and cannot directly determine the transition temperature in the thermodynamic limit. However, in conjunction with finite size scaling, perturbation th...
متن کاملLarge Scale Simulation of Parallel Molecular Dynamics
This paper aims to describe the implementation of TAKAKAW, an efficient parallel application for the simulation of molecular dynamics designed to handle large proteins in biology. The implementation is based on the multi-threading parallel programming environment, called ATHAPASCAN 1 which allows to implement and evaluate easily several load-balancing strategies. Some experiments run on one of ...
